Welcome to Mr. Beringer's Weebly!
Welcome to Mr. Beringer's Weebly. I have been the principal of Lee R. Foster Elementary School in Oak Forest, Illinois since the 2000-2001 school year. My career started way back in 1987, where I spent 2 years in Decatur, Illinois. I taught H.S. physical education and was an assistant in math classes while at Stephen Decatur HS, and then taught PE and science while at Mound Middle School. I also coached varsity soccer, girls freshman and sophomore basketball and JV baseball. After 2 years, I moved up to Kankakee Junior High School, where I taught 8th grade science. I coached football and baseball at Kankakee High School during that time. After receiving my Master of Arts in Administration, I took an assistant principal position in Calumet City. Eventually, I became Principal of the Upper Grade Center in Lincoln Elementary School District 156. After 5 years in that district I ended up here at Foster, and have been here since then.
There are so many things about Foster that make it special for me, but the most important aspects are the students, parents and staff. Everyone always works together to make sure Foster School is the best it can be.
I have a wonderful wife and 2 great daughters. My wife, Karen, is a neo-natal intensive care nurse. It's amazing that she can work with these little babies! She is a great mom and wife, and I am lucky to be married to her. My oldest daughter, Jess, is a teacher in Champaign, IL. She is teaching first grade students in a dual language program, teaching half of the day in English and half of the day in Spanish. My youngest daughter, Niki, is an Assistant to the Party and Special Events Planner at Wildfire in downtown Chicago. I am blessed with a super family!
I love to fish and get outdoors. I also really enjoy playing guitar, and get together with some friends sometimes to play covers of songs we like and are able to play. Who knows, someday we may come up with an original song!
